Higher Education Academy
We are a strategic institutional subscriber 2016-2017 to the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
The Higher Education Academy (HEA) is the national body for enhancing learning and teaching in higher education. It works with universities, colleges, governments and sector agencies to bring about changes that improve teaching and the student learning experience.
On behalf of the sector, the HEA manages the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF), the only national framework to offer professional recognition for teaching staff through continuing professional development (CPD), journals, research and surveys of students’ experiences.
It brings individuals and teams together to improve the quality of learning and teaching, shape policy and enhance practice.
The HEA also offers consultancy services which help universities and colleges in the UK and internationally to make strategic and practical changes to the way they work.
We have a priority for staff development which includes a target for the achievement of UK Professional Standards Framework fellowships for all teaching staff through membership of the Higher Education Academy.
Our targets include having all members of teaching staff as members of the Higher Education Academy to the minimum level of Fellow.
The Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) supports teaching staff in their development. An annual staff development conference also provides a focus for staff development initiatives.
Learn more about our annual Teaching and Learning Conference here.
CETL supports and enhances teaching. It supports staff in their applications to the Higher Education Academy.
As of 21 October 2016, over half of the Academics at LSBM are either Fellows or Senior Fellows of the HEA.
