The National Student Survey 2017

16 Jan 2017

The National Student Survey (NSS) will launch for the first time at LSBM on Monday 16 January 2017.

The NSS is a survey of final year undergraduates in England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland. The survey is part of the revised system of quality assurance for higher education, and is designed to run alongside the QAA institutional audit to generate more detailed public information about teaching quality. The NSS is commissioned by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), on behalf of the UK funding bodies and administered by Ipsos MORI, an independent research company.

The NSS results are made available to participating institutions annually and are published nationally on the Unistats website. Promotion of the NSS at a localised level is a key factor in achieving the required response rate for results to be made publicly available.  Good response rates ensure that NSS data can be made available to prospective students, institutions and students’ unions to support student choice and quality enhancement.

It is important that as many students as possible provide their feedback for the survey to generate reliable information and make sure that your views and opinions are properly registered.

During the week commencing 16 January 2017 eligible students will be sent a personalised invitation email to complete the NSS. Those who have not completed the survey may later be contacted by telephone.

So, if you are an LSBM student who has received an invite to complete the survey, then please fill it in as quickly as possible.

Early online completion is desirable, as all students who complete the survey are in with a chance of winning one of three great prizes!

If you complete the survey you could win a brand new iPad, or one of two Amazon vouchers!

So, remember to complete it as soon as you get sent your personalised invitation!

If you are a student with queries about the NSS then either visit the NSS website at, or contact the student helpline at Ipsos MORI at
