International Men's Day

15 Nov 2016

Saturday 19 November marks International Men's Day.  Under the general banner of "Making a Difference for Men and Boys", the focus in the UK is on supporting men and boys with their academic, employment, personal, social and health education, as well as on stopping male suicide.  In 2014, male suicide accounted for 76% of all suicides and is the single biggest cause of death in men under 45 in the UK.

International Men's Day is designed to:

  • promote male role models
  • celebrate the contribution men make
  • focus on men's health and wellbeing and address high male suicide rates
  • highlight discrimination against men
  • improve gender relations and promote gender equality
  • create a safer world for everyone

If you are feeling down or in crisis, and want someone to talk to, there are a number of organisations you can contact.  See below for details.
